Just about as perfect a film noir as you can get. This is such a great film. Mitchum, Greer, and Douglas are all fantastic. The plot is sufficiently complex and convoluted with twists and double-crosses. The cinematography is gorgeous, whether it’s the beautiful Sierra Nevadas or a dark, shadowy apartment.
Jacques Tourneur was a really talented director. Sadly, apparently due to personal issues, he didn’t have the career he probably should have had.
