Viewing Notes

My favorite film of the festival so far. The day-to-day struggles of an immigrant trying to earn a living and seek asylum while circumstances keep setting him back plays out like a thriller.  You can’t help rooting for him and feeling his disappointment at every negative turn. The ending is heartbreaking (or maybe hopeful?).

The lead, Abou Sangare, is a non-professional actor, but you’d never know it.  He’s terrific.
