Viewing Notes

Antonioni’s first English language film is fascinating mostly for capturing the London of the Swingin’ 60’s in gorgeous color.  It continues Antonioni’s theme of ennui in the modern world.

The whole sequence of David Hemmings “blowing up” his photographs to reveal what may be a murder is absolutely riveting (it must have been a big influence on THE CONVERSATION and BLOW OUT).

The other major highlight for me is the scene with The Yardbirds and Jeff Beck smashing his guitar.
