Viewing Notes

A light comedy from Bergman following the bleakness of THE VIRGIN SPRING.

Apparently, backers were reluctant to finance THE VIRGIN SPRING, thinking it was box office poison. Bergman offered to make a more audience friendly comedy if they also financed the more serious one. Ironically, it was THE VIRGIN SPRING that turned out to be the bigger box office hit.  This is still a charming film.
