All the performances are great, but it’s Marlon Brando who’s the game changer. He is absolutely amazing, and his method acting became influential to a generation of great actors.
The film itself is still a bit stagey, but it’s hard to ignore the great performances and the dialogue from Tennessee Williams, which is extraordinary (personal note: I got to see Tennessee Williams in person when he gave a talk at UCLA back in the early ‘80’s).
