A great horror film. Not the kind of jump-scare horror you see in today’s movies, but a psychological terror that builds gradually. Great performances from all involved.
William Castle owned the rights to the novel and was producer, but Paramount (and Robert Evans) wouldn’t allow him to direct. Smart choice. Castle does make a cameo; he’s the man standing outside the phone booth waiting for Mia Farrow to finish her call.
