Twenty-eight years since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one member departs on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.

After watching this, I found out it’s the first of a proposed trilogy. I hope so. There’s a lot going on thematically. It looks like Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are trying to bring new life (no pun intended) into this genre.
The film still has the frenetic violence and gore from the previous films (removing the head and spine from victims is a nice touch!).
The film was also shot using an iPhone 16 Pro Max, so it retains a little bit of the digital video look of the previous films.
