I was in the mood for a 1970’s disaster flick and pulled this off the shelf, perhaps my favorite of the genre.
Everything about this film screams big. A huge, star-studded cast. Steve McQueen and Paul Newman together in the same film? Yes, please (along with Robert Redford, they were probably the biggest stars of the era).
This was a historic collaboration between two major studios (20th Century Fox and Warner Bros.). Irwin Allen used four different film crews to shoot all the sequences. Over 50 sets were built for the production.
Note: a cool little BULLITT reunion with McQueen, Robert Vaughn, and Don Gordon.
Big, big, big. And fun, fun, fun.
