The great thing about this GREMLINS ripoff is that it doesn’t for a second try to hide the source of its inspiration. There’s a scene where the Munchies drive a Gremlin with a license plate that reference Gizmo for crying out loud. Overall it’s a fine little film, one that I watched repeatedly on cable as a kid. The jokes are pretty low-brow and I didn’t remember the Munchies talking so much but they do. Moderately entertaining and light fun, this was the kick-off to our MUNCHIES marathon and junk food night called Munchies’ Munchies.
