Sad-sack Steve Carrell decides to spend the surprisingly civilized end-of-days with the flesh-colored skeleton that is Keira Knightley in pursuit of whatever-or-something. Rarely has the approaching end of the world been portrayed with such banality. It’s not dark enough or funny enough to be a good flick of any type and the character motivations are constantly suspect. There are some moments of life (particularly in the Friendises scene where they stop in at a restaurant filled with the kind of people with whom I’d personally like to spend my final days) but overall it’s a bit of a limp ride.
