Viewing Notes

When I first saw this its premier at SXSW I hated it. I believe I described it as a 90 minute live action Family Guy “remember that one time” bit. I felt so overloaded and so exhausted by every joke being explained 8 different ways (and usually including text written on the screen) that I complete dismissed the film.

However, when a cheap Blu-ray appeared, I decided I wanted to give it another try. And while I can’t say I’m completely on board with the film, I did find a lot more to like. In the end, I can’t help but admire the ambition and style executed on what had to be a minuscule budget. So while I can’t say I particularly like the film, I’m proud to have it on my shelf as an example of untarnished, unique vision.
