After getting out of jail, car thief Ernest “Stick” Stickley witnesses the murder of his friend Rainy during a drug deal. To avoid getting killed by the same people, who work for mobster Chucky, Stick gets a job as a chauffeur for millionaire Barry Braham and lies low. As he gets used to his new routine, Stick woos Barry’s financial consultant, Kyle McClaren, but must fight back when Chucky’s men come after him.

In my quest to see more Burt Reynolds films I came across this odd revenge thriller on Instant Netflix. Burt is Ernest “Stick” Stickley, a recently-released convict who quickly gets caught up in crime again and then has to go after the man who kills his buddy. That totally standard plot is frequently pushed aside for strange segments like Stick and his roommate hanging out. There’s also a love affair subplot with the always-old-but-also-hot-looking Candice Bergen. It’s a sort of plodding film but with enough solid moments to make to it an interesting watch.
