Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah together at last! This movie really is the STANDING OVATION of gospel choir competition films and is made up entirely of wonky subplots. There’s so much going on that one forgets it’s a competition film. In fact, the only real competition is at the very end and we only see the team perform one number (even though earlier in the film their loss at regionals is a HUGE deal apparently). This movie is braindead but silly and funny (for some right but mostly wrong reasons).
