The rather unusual screening of this film began with Michael Biehn sitting on the stage with host Zack Carlson and a small poster of the film meant to be a backdrop for any PR type photos to be taken. Instead Biehn decided to use it as a guide, pointing at tiny characters on the small poster and talking about each’s arc through the story. Spoiler territory. At one point he descended into a diatribe about the sodomizing of Gaddafi corpse. It was one of the most bizarre Q&As I’ve seen in some time.
The movie? It’s fitting that the first Gens film I like is the one that everyone else detests. I don’t’ think its a fun film at all. It’s insanely unpleasant and frequently illogical. But I found it engrossing and even if it wasn’t pleasant things, I FELT something. Not a great film, not one I’ll revisit very often at all, but I like what Gens did here and impressed with how unrestrained the actors allowed themselves to get.
