Viewing Notes
Occasionally mildly amusing, this CGI-intesive family film is high on the forced whimsy and low on any genuine thrills. The Rock’s pecs-dance scene and Michael Caine’s look of desperation in close-ups are highlights. Hutcherson’s character is such an annoying little brat (he’s genuinely ticked at his stepdad for not wanting to fly him off to an UNDISCOVERED ISLAND) one doesn’t really want him to make it through the ordeal. Guzman understands the film around him and just goes nuts with his doofus character.
