Viewing Notes

Crackling crime yarn that makes the most of its great cast: Edward G. Robinson as a fired cop who joins the mob, Barton MacLane as the gang boss, and Humphrey Bogart as his ruthless lieutenant, plus Joan Blondell as a smart gun moll and Frank McHugh as her bumbling lieutenant.

William Keighley’s sure-handed direction and the script, credited to Seton I. Miller, elevates good material even further; there’s nary a missed beat. Terrific!
