Viewing Notes

The British seem very good at portraying the disenfranchised in a very real and dark way. London to Brighton is one of these films which follows a prostitute on the run with a young 12 year old runaway from her pimp after a bad incident with a very connected client.

To say shit goes bad in this movie would be a huge understatement. What I loved were the performances all around. I hadn’t seen any of these actors that I can remember but they all delivered a very touching and disturbing portrait. I felt bad for the little girl and the prostitute helping her and wanted to know what why they were on the run, as it’s deftly handled and not revealed until the end, though you know something went very wrong.

As an added bonus since I was just recently in Brighton it was nice to see the beach which I had visited.

Solid, dark thriller that I wouldn’t watch again but would recommend for sure.
