It Might Get Loud brings together 3 great rock guitarists from different eras to talk about making music, guitars and life. Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White, all very famous and all master guitar players, though they all play much differently and have different focuses.
This was what I found completely interesting. To see how Jack White is more into that dirty, grungy sound, even going so far as to make his own guitar out of nailed together wood and using his old plastic guitar. The Edge on the other hand is a computer and effects junkie using all sorts of sounds and guitars for every song so he has the right sound. And then of course the classic Page who is just a straight out blues rocker.
There was some anecdotes looking back on the history of their bands and playing and I’m sure for the big fans of Zepplin and U2 this was rehash information it was a nice package to see in one spot and stuff I hadn’t known about.
All in all its a great documentary for rock fans. It’s a treat seeing those guys play and talk betwixt each other but as for music documentaries of 2009 I’d say Anvil or Flight 666 is the must see. Just my taste…
