Viewing Notes

Went into Blindness thinking nothing of it though I did like the trailers and I knew the cast was good: Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal, Julianne Moore, and Danny Glover.

At its basics its an apocalyptic, sci-fi film that turns into a sort of Lord of the Flies. People in the world start going blind for unknown reasons. Julianne Moore’s husband, Ruffalo, does and the government rounds them up into interment camps and because she’s not blind she has an advantage. From there control is basically given over to the prisoners minus giving them food to sort out themselves. From there these blind people are left on their own and as human nature is, it degrades into a dirty, evil mess.

Once it gets so messy and dark they realize there is no control and head out back into the world which is out of control because nobody can see so people are living on the streets, scrounging for food and and doing the best they can without sight.

I was not expecting what it was but Blindness was a really solid drama with some sci-fi edges to it. A very good watch.
