Viewing Notes

Penance takes elements of first person camera movies like Blair Witch/Cloverfield, mixes it with brutal torture movies like Hostel and tries to add in a dash of Martyrs. Normally this would be something I could get behind but really, it’s just silly and tried way too hard for me.

A young mother takes up stripping because she needs money to help raise her kid. Her friend is already a stripper and helps her to learn how and get jobs. They end up at the wrong job, wackiness ensues and bad shit happens.

While you do get a lot of nakedness, which is never a bad thing, all of it is held back by a lame script and terrible acting. Not even having Michael Rooker and Tony Todd in it, who I both love, helped.

Watchable, but not a good movie. Pretty much a pass. A 2 star movie out of 5 for me.
