Summer School is about a kid who loves horror movies and writes a blog about them. He shows up to school for summer school and falls asleep at his desk. At that point he gets into a cycle of Groundhog Day style stories where he wakes up when bad shit happens. Each story is based on a different horror theme and while the movie is definitely a low budget one, it doesn’t suffer from it.
Sure, this isn’t top quality, but it was helped along by breaking up the movie into multiple stories (in fact maybe 6 or 7 of them?). The acting wasn’t bad and I had no complaints there. The only thing I think maybe lacked in the movie was that the gore was done on the cheap and it looked it. If they had better effects it would of really delivered. Otherwise I had a good time with Summer School and found it to be a nice find for a no-name horror flick.
My favorite stories were the Hillbilly on the rampage shooting people and the one with the staff going all Nazi and executing the students. The one with the spider transformation was pretty decent too.
