Troll 2 has been lauded as the worst movie ever made. For a long time it was rated 1 star on iMDB. And yet I completely missed out on seeing it until today. I’ve seen Troll (more than once in fact), but never Troll 2, which has nothing to do with the first one.
Off the bat, Troll 2 is a bad movie. There’s no claiming otherwise. However, it’s a perfect amalgamation of bad that makes it quite amazing. I was talking to Kayla about this and she said how its a great movie because it has heart and everyone is doing their best to make it the best movie ever and I couldn’t agree more. It really does. From George Hardy, who plays the dad, to the main kid Michael Stevenson and even down to the guy in the drugstore Don Packard, they’re acting their hearts out. No matter how little sense the plot makes, how bad the effects are, they don’t care and are doing their best.
In the end, there’s everything about this movie that I love. The bad lines, the dance scene, the popcorn/corn on the cob love scene, the trolls…All of it is genius.
Troll 2 is a classic and I’m glad I’m now part of the crowd that can say that.
