Viewing Notes

Watched as part of a Weird Wednesday follow along. I had heard Lord Love A Duck, while the trailers make it out to be another 60’s beach party film, it nothing like that and very weird. It is!

Roddy McDowell and a very, very beautiful Tuesday Weld are the mains. Roddy is in love with her and decides that he’s going to do everything in his power to make her happy, all the while claiming he’s some bird named Mollymauk. This also means he goes around squawking at people.

You add in an older guy who makes beach blanket films, a man that Tuesday falls in love with then wants to divorce so Roddy tries to kill him and ends up running him down with a bulldozer and some other crazy ass random shit and you have very strange but highly entertaining film.

When watching this I had a few beers in me and it was late (for me) so I was fighting the dozes a little which only helped to make the movie that much more strange.

Great dialogue, crazy story, beautiful leading lady, awesome McDowell and Harvey Korman all adds up to a very great movie.
