A lot of times the Terror Tuesday will be excellent not because the film itself is amazing but because its bad and just entertaining with a crowd. JD’s Revenge stands out because it’s just a solid movie. I loved the performance from Glenn Turman who is amazing playing the role of Isaac, a smart guy, trying to be a lawyer with a good group of friends and a loving girlfriend. When he becomes possessed by the ex-gangster J.D. Walker, he takes on this pimp persona, the one thing that makes this movie sort of a blaxploitation film. Really, it’s just a possession/horror thriller and because the guy who gets possessed becomes almost a caricature of a pimp, thats where it makes it into a blaxploitation flick. It’s an interesting duality and one that’s made even better by having an amazing performance by Turman (who I guess is on The Wire, which I’ve been meaning to watch).
