Ben X wasn’t what I expected. I guess I expected it to call on the sci-fi gaming aspect of it more but really it just takes some MMO, Archlord, and cuts in scenes from it trying to show that the main autistic character relates or sees himself as his avatar.
While this is somewhat corny and it absolutely gets repetitive I really enjoyed Greg Timmerman’s performance as Ben. He was very believable as the autistic kid and I felt bad for him during his torment.
While the end pays off, I was hoping for something more and wasn’t sure it would really make much difference in the end to his tormentors. I would have also liked to see more of his relationship with his “healer” developed, even with the twist.
All in all it’s a decent movie. Good acting, easily guessed plot and predictable outcome. Could have been better but it’s terrible by any means.
