Viewing Notes

Clownhouse is notable because the director was charged with molesting the lead in the film. This is pretty sick and it’s amazing that Salva even went on to direct Powder and Jeeper’s Creepers 1 and 2. However, it also overshadows what could of been a classic horror/thriller film.

Clownhouse has 3 escaped mental patients terrorizing a family of 3 brothers (one being a young Sam Rockwell!). One of the brothers has a huge fear of clowns and so to add to the scare factor, a circus is in town and after the patients off the clowns from the circus they dress up like clowns to go on their terror run.

I found Clownhouse to be immensely creepy and dark. The atmosphere of the movie is thick with evil and the clown costumes are scary as hell. Fuck a buncha IT, when you have these freaks running around.

I’d highly recommend watching Clownhouse if you’re into 80s slashers and if you get a chance.
