Totally not what I was expecting. The scenes I had seen advertising this for Weird Wednesday made it seem more like a sex romp style comedy but instead it’s a crime thriller with elements of a sex comedy. Great film!
Interestingly enough it’s written by Gene Roddenberry of Star Trek fame and stars Rock Hudson as a suave high school counselor who is bedding all the birds in the school. Angie Dickinson plays a super sexy substitute who puts the come on onto a young man in her class who is very awkward but has no luck with the ladies. The kid ends up finding a body in the school bathroom when he goes to knock one out after having Angie rub her breasts in his face “accidentally” in class. That sets off an investigation in to the murder, which multiples to more bodies. Telly Savalas plays the lead detective, which isn’t a huge stretch since he was oft used as a cop in his roles.
All in all it’s a terrific film. You never really can figure out the killer and it plays the whole comedy, sex and thriller thing quite handily.
