The Human Centipede is making the rounds as the next big grossout horror film. In reality, while the subject matter is actually kind of sick, the delivery is much more subdued and in the veign or Texas Chainsaw where there’s very little graphic scenes and mostly implied stuff.
Beyond that I found it to be an effective horror film. It’s not groundbreaking by any means, going for the “Americans lost in a foreign country and end up in a shitty situation” plotline. What made it succeed for me was that the mad doctor, played by Dieter Laser, was incredibly, effectively creepy. Even just looking at the guy would give you heebies. It hit a bunch of good scares, had me rooting for the people to escape and just all around worked for me.
