Viewing Notes

Coming off as something MTV would of produced in 1991, this movie which stars Chad Lowe and Kristy Swanson has guest appearances by the entire Stiller family, Lita Ford and Gilbert Gottfried. Funny how Gottfried and the Stillers still have careers but the two leads are non-existent now.

Anyways, this is a pretty delicious slice of ridiculous pie. Kristy Swanson gets kidnapped by a Hellcop (seriously, thats what they call him) and Chad Lowe has to go to Hell to get her back. Hell is pretty much Arizona and the titular Highway To Hell seems to just be a bunch of old VW bugs driving in one direction.

What made the movie fun, though, was it’s over the top scenes of him going from one absurd location to the next only to have the Hell cop take Kristy away, the same way Donkey Kong would whisk off the princess at the end of each level. The acting isn’t anything to write home about and the appearance of a biker gang that seems written in to fit someone’s cousin in as a part of the movie are detriments, but with a few beers you can laugh at his terrible delivery of lines.

Lots of fun and one of the better Horror Movie Night selections we’ve had this year.
