I said it before but I can’t believe I’ve slept on the films of Florentine because he’s working to rapidly become one of the better action film directors out there. I can’t imagine what he’d do with a huge budget.
Undisputed rocks on concept alone and sometimes that’s enough to overlook a weak plot and/or action but Undisputed 2 doesn’t have to. An American boxer on a career decline ends up in a Russian prison where he has to fight in cage matches to win his freedom. Michael Jai White stars and is a total badass from shot to shot, always telling his captors what’s what and ending up with his ass kicked for it. Scott Adkins plays his foe, the Russian fighter who is the top in the prison, Yuri Boyka, and by the time the two finally get their day in the cage, we’ve seen some fights that put most action films to shame.
Love this movie, love Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White and if you want some testosterone filled ass kickery, you have to watch Undisputed II and then III. It’s a mean-ass double feature.
