Viewing Notes

Note that I use a 4-point scale.

My love for paranormal television shows really makes Grave Encounters a blast. I am a massive hater of Ghost Adventures - or, as I like to call it, BRO HUNTERS!!!11one - and Grave Encounters takes virtually all of its inspiration from them, which I love. I don’t know if they are intentionally mocking Bro Hunters or not, but it sure feels like they are, and it is hilarious.

Once the laughs end, the movie kicks it up another gear. Instead of being simply a mockumentary, Grave Encounters delivers a found footage film with some wonderfully effective visual effects and scares. It does move slowly, no doubt about that, but when it picks up, it’s a solid found footage horror film that is definitely recommended.
