More than any other series, the HARRY POTTER movies continue to maintain their quality. With a few stumbles here and there, the series has done a great job ramping up to a grande finale. HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE is less epic than ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, but it’s a solid entry and it’s strength is in some great character development.
I was actually surprised that the movie worked. It’s lighter ton, the focus on budding relationships and young love could have been disaster. But, David Yates handles the material beautifully and helped HALF BLOOD PRINCE become a charming entry.
It’s not all fluff. The end of the film is quite great and even moving. A great set-up for THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.
