If you grew up loving Fantasy movies like I did, YOUR HIGHNESS will be mostly entertaining. However, if you’re relying on wit and cleverness, you won’t find much.
As much as I had fun with this goody Fantasy/Comedy, I couldn’t help but wonder what “could have been” with a more clever script. Danny McBride uses his usual humor tropes and Franco us a bit bland. However, the standout is Natalie Portman. She plays her role as “badass babe” totally committed and with a straight face. She’s great & I want to see her in a straight up action flick.
A dumb, fun story that seems pulled directly from the 80s kept me entertained. The story was there, but I feel this genre is ripe for a cleverness heights that it never reaches.
Still fun and I’d recommend as a rental or cable watch.
