Most of what I knew about CRITTERS as a kids was what I heard from other kids. When it was first released I don’t think I was allowed to watch it, even though it was PG-13. I had a friend who would describe (in accurate detail) every flick he’d see. So my little brain filled in the images as I heard the movie described to me.
I ended up seeing the flick eventually as a kid and it’s been a part of my DNA ever since. The strange blend of Sci-Fi & Horror appealed to me and I’ve never really considered CRITTERS to be a horror flick.
Watching CRITTERS again as an adult is still a blast. These are goofy little movies that have a lot of charm to spare. We’ll see how charming I still think they are after watching the 3 sequels.
