An Okinawan prophecy that foretells the destruction of the Earth is seeming fulfilled when Godzilla emerges to return to his destructive roots. But not all is what it seems after Godzilla breaks his ally Anguirus’s jaw. Matters are further complicated when a second Godzilla emerges, revealing the doppelgänger as a mechanical weapon.

So, now that my kids are full on Godzilla fans, I decided to track down some more Godzilla DVDs. The first one I bought was Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Wow. The 70s were a trip.
Even though Godzilla obviously dies in Gojira, he’s back! Not as a villan this time, but as a hero who strikes Kung Fu poses! Now, I don’t claim to know how all the Godzilla mythology fits together, but it’s pretty interesting how the Godzilla franchise evolved.
Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla is full of bat-shit insane psychedelic 70s craziness, monkey men, a fake robot Godzilla and Godzilla. My kids love it.
