Viewing Notes

At first, It’s Complicated looked like the type of movie I would avoid and not care about it at all.  However, at my lovely wife’s persistance, I broke down and we made it a date night movie (I need to do this more often.  I’m a snob.). I’m pleased to report that It’s Complicated is actually a very enjoyable movie and often extremely funny.

The basic set up is this: Man with grown kids gets divorced, marries an extremely younger woman.  This younger woman wants kids.  Man has affair with his ex-wife.  Hilarity ensues! It’s a pretty simple plot, but the acting and story are so well executed that a lot can be forgiven.  My only major gripe is that Steve Martin is underused in the film.  Alec Baldwin is hilarious and Meryl Streep does a great job.

With all the pointless shit out there posing as “Romantic Comedies” It’s Complicated is a great choice for a date night.  I laughed quite a bit and my wife and I had a great time with it.  Recommended.
