Viewing Notes

Every time the opening strains of Danny Elfman’s BATMAN soundtrack start, I get fired up; I can’t help it. It, and the great and simple title sequence, resurrect the 9-year old nerd within me that starts cheering.

Tim Burton’s BATMAN just works. It feels so different than any of the increasingly-horrible SUPERMAN films, from its gothic noir style to a flat-out crazy villain in Jack Nicholson’s Joker. It’s not perfect drama, but damn it, it’s a an exciting blend of pacing, dialogue, characterization and flat out panache that no Batman movie since has matched.

I love the Chris Nolan movies, but BATMAN will forever be my favorite.
