Overview

Jaded ex-CIA operative John Creasy reluctantly accepts a job as the bodyguard for a 10-year-old girl in Mexico City. They clash at first, but eventually bond, and when she’s kidnapped he’s consumed by fury and will stop at nothing to save her life.

THE PUNISHER starring Thomas Jane opened on April 16, 2004 and was soundly defeated in every way one week later by the release of MAN ON FIRE, the movie that THE PUNISHER should’ve been.

While one could argue that Tony Scott spends too much time establishing the core relationships, it does serve to provide barrelfuls of heart, which THE PUNISHER had none of. MAN ON FIRE is just a damn touching movie and then manages to kick-ass at the same time.
