Any time Luc Besson takes on a project, I am there. He didn’t direct TAKEN, but damn if his style doesn’t shine through and mix into a nice cocktail with Pierre Morel’s direction.
The action is brutal, yet choregraphed beautifully, bringing you in close enough to be brutal, yet far enough away to not be TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN’s extreme close-up, unintelligble fights. And the story is succint and with purpose: a single-minded revenge caused by a horror that most people can empathize with.
TAKEN is one of the best action films of any era.
