Viewing Notes

I wasn’t sure that THE HOBBIT the book could be split into three movies, but the first film gives me more hope. The film certainly needs a stronger editing hand and there are a few minor annoyances like GQ dwarves appearing next to dwarvey Dwarves and Bilbo making multiple speeches of his worthiness, but all in all it was a good effort and a good time.

What was more annoying was the crowd. When the Middle Earth font first appeared, people clapped. Ok. Then the title came up. Ok. And then they clapped in the first scene and almost every scene after that. Triple ugh. As the shit icing on a crap cake, some girl behind us frequently whimpered or sighed when something happened on screen, especially when the dwarves started appearing. The. Worst.
