With the country’s debt growing out of control, Americans by and large are unaware of the looming financial crisis. This documentary examines several of the ways America can get its economy back on the right track. In addition to looking at the federal deficit and trade deficit, the film also closely explores the challenges of funding national entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Wake up to how badly Democrats and Republicans have screwed the U.S. As raising taxes vs federal budget has been such a contentious issue in Congress this year, I.O.U.S.A. struck poignantly in how relevant it still is to our current crisis, even three years after it came out.
The documentary is done very well, blending graphics, stats, history and facts nicely into a sauce that makes you want to vomit all over the federal government for how badly they’ve mishandled the economy. It’s also great to see a political documentary that doesn’t smack of partisanship either. That’s a rarity, indeed. It would’ve been nice, however to see more on how individuals can make a difference (if they can at all).
Everyone should see I.O.U.S.A. if only to think about how you can manage your own money better, but hopefully to make you angry.
