Viewing Notes

I started hearing rave reviews about TUCKER & DALE back in March 2010. For months I kept expecting it to hit theaters, but it never did, at least here in Dallas. Hype kept building and I started to dismiss the buzz, believing it to be overhype; I’m happy to report that it’s not.

The film could’ve used a few more jokes and fewer predictable kills, but the film really succeeds in twisting the genre on its head, while at the same time building a true charm without relying on that genre bend alone. It’s nice to see an actual care for the characters that didn’t make them cardboard cut-outs. We need more horror movies that take more care of the genre by innovating with the characters and not just tired, mindless kills.
