I was expecting more of an eponymous fluff piece out of CONAN O’BRIEN CAN’T STOP and not the seemingly self-effacing piece that’s there. Good for Conan: he actually wasn’t afraid to show his warts on screen. Allowing the audience to see his anger at NBC and his two-sided relationship of thankfulness and exhaustion with fans on tour puffs him out to make him more of a three-dimensional character than the affable, silly caricature that’s been on-screen for 15-plus years.
But, I wanted more. I wanted to see more of the actual touring show and maybe more details about his breakup and dealings with NBC and more about his upbringing and more about his feelings about Jay Leno. Those are minor wants, though, in an otherwise good, if not monumental, missing chapter between shows.
