I was surprised by two things: BOY EATS GIRL is an Irish movie (because you just don’t get that many Irish movies Stateside, let alone Irish horror), and as zombie movies go, this felt somewhat fresh in the oversaturated genre.
Though the introduction and resolution are a bit hokey, everything in between is fun, mixing shades of REVENGE OF THE NERDS with a zombie movie and 40-year old teenagers, a la 80s slasher flicks. The blood spills progress at a nice pace, with the the blood climax exploding at the same time as the plot climax.
I only wish they’d focused on Diggs and Henry a bit more to give us a bit more of a buddy zombie comedy vibe, a la ZOMBIELAND and SHAUN.
