Viewing Notes

Not having seen it since it came out when I was 14, I remember not liking it at all. Seventeen years later, though, THE SHADOW is passable.

There are so many moments when writer David Koepp is on the verge of getting it right by trying to be the 1989 BATMAN or evoking that serial feel (a la INDIANA JONES), but more often than not the film falls flat, trying to be edgy but only emerging corny in the process with a rather lukewarm ending.

For the time though, the special effects were great and the set design quite rich.

Memorable line: “Psychically speaking, I’m quite well endowed.”
