I’ve been looking forward to BEAT STREET, as I’d been told by many that it was the superior film to the BREAKIN’ duology. And it is…until around the hour mark.
So much of the first hour was gritty and hip-hoppy and featured great break dancing, but after that film starts to tank and meanders to wrapping up on a very lukewarm note; at least BREAKIN’ and BREAKIN’ 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO left on big breakin’ numbers, even if they were cheesy.
I like the film (especially the Christmas sequence), but I wish it’d been more even and had more break dancing.
