I love me some Captain Marvel and I can’t rightly say why, exactly. But, much like I like Captain Kirk with a goatee better, I like his opposite Black Adam much more, and that’s why this movie is a disservice to the Marvel family. I know Marvel is a B character, but he’s a B character with a long history that deserved better; hell if Doctor Strange can get a full length animated movie, so should Captain Marvel.
What’s on screen is great and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it’s too short by far when it could have been so much more, involving not only Superman and Captain Marvel, but Hawkman and Hawkgirl and time shifting and on and on.
I also loved that George Newbern was back as Superman. I wish, as always, that they’d keep the voice cast consistent across movies.
I’m not a fan of the character, but the B-side of the Specture was saved by a nice noir feel.
