Viewing Notes

SUBMARINE tries to follow in the hipster romcom quirky footsteps of 500 DAYS and JUNO but really doesn’t succeed. The female lead is unlikeable and the quirks just don’t work for the most part; we were both ready for the film to end after act two. It’s also not a film you want to watch if you’re at all tired, because it’s so slow and quiet that.
