Sir Borotyn, a prominent Prague resident, is discovered murdered in his home, with all indications pointing to a vampire assault. The victim’s friend, Baron Otto, and the physician who analyzes the body are certain that the vampire is the mysterious Count Mora, or perhaps his daughter, but receive little help from the law. Professor Zelen, an expert in the occult, is called in to assist with the investigation.

Talkie remake of London After Midnight.
Really enjoyed this update to the lost silent. I think this really bridges gaps left behind in the photo-reconstruction of the original silent. Lugosi is great, but playing the same mysterious role as Lon Chaney, in that great make-up, it is far from superior.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
As for the infamous cop-out ending where they turn out not to be vampires, I’m torn. Part of me really wants to be mad about the whole mess, but overall I actually kinda like the whole thing. I find Berrymore’s hypnosis awesome creepy, and the leading lady having to pretend a look-a-like actor is her recently deceased father is somewhat heartbreaking.
Oh! Luna the bat girl flying into the scene? Amazing!
