Ok, so I know this isn’t perfect, but I loved it! Meanwhile, about 24 hours later (as of the time of this writing), I’m still not sure what to make of the whole film.
The movie is absurd, indulgent, garish, sexy, scary, sad, joyous, hilarious… and so many more adjectives. At the heart we can see the insane invincibility complex that plagues so many teens and college age kids, all heightened around the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah of Spring Break. I went through a similar can-do-no-wrong phase years ago, not nearly this bad though.
Special mention to James Franco for a jaw-dropping performance as Alien. He is absolutely ridiculous, but I love him to death. Can’t wait to see this again.
Look at my shit! Spring break for ever!
